Scout the Fox

Dawn in a dish wand to scrub the shower

Works 🔬 Evidence-based

The hack

Fill a dish-wand handle with Dawn (plus a splash of vinegar, optional) and scrub the shower while you’re in it to prevent soap scum.

Where it's popular: Consumer Reports: top-liked #CleanTok hack (@jessmapes)

Scout's verdict

Dish soap’s surfactants lift body oil and soap film; vinegar is a good descaler for glass doors. Consumer Reports tried it and its experts backed it, with one big caveat: no vinegar on natural stone or grout.

Evidence: Consumer Reports · Consumer Reports: never clean these with vinegar

Bottom line: Works, and one bottle of Dawn lasts months this way.

⚠️ Safety

Skip the vinegar on marble, travertine, granite and grout. Soapy floors are slippery: rinse the floor well. Never combine with bleach-based shower sprays.
